Senators Warren and Kim Seek Review of UAE’s $500M Investment in Trump-Linked Project
Senators Elizabeth Warren and Andy Kim are pushing for scrutiny of a $500 million investment by the United Arab Emirates in World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a project linked to former President Donald Trump. The lawmakers, both members of the Senate Banking Committee, have requested an evaluation to determine whether the deal warrants a national security review by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).
The investment, reported by the Wall Street Journal, involves G42, a company backed by UAE's national security adviser Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The deal, executed through Aryam Investment 1 and signed by Eric Trump, includes a $250 million upfront payment, with significant portions directed toward TRUMP family entities and affiliates of Steve Witkoff, Trump's special envoy to the Middle East.
President Trump has denied personal knowledge of the transaction, deferring to his family's handling of the matter. The Senators' inquiry highlights growing concerns over foreign investments in politically sensitive projects.
